This gorgeous vintage china pendant was created from a beautiful Herend Rothschild Bird Dinner Plate, Motif 2, which features a pair of birds & butterflies with a blue fishnet border with gold accents. This porcelain pattern, known as "Rothschild Bird," was first created in 1860 for the Rothschild family of Europe. The design was inspired by a tale of Baroness Rothschild losing her pearl necklace, which was later found by birds in her garden. Herend porcelain is handmade & hand-painted in Hungary, often featuring 24k gold accents. The Rothschild Bird pattern is available in various pieces, including dinnerware, tea sets & figurines, with 12 different bird motifs. For this fabulous pendant I was able to capture one of those lovely birds for you to enjoy!
The design for this ab~fab pendant was chosen from the center of the plate, carefully cut out with ceramic tile nippers, smoothed out to size & shape with my handy dandy grinder, then (white) grout is added to the edges to seal & further protect the vintage china piece.
The large round setting is silver plated & measures 1 1/2" long, 1 1/2" wide & 1/4" deep.
The necklace I am offering to wear this piece is 18" stainless steel round mesh chain with lobster claw clasp.
*Each JBD piece comes with a 'Story Card' that tells a little about the Vintage China Pattern that was used in the piece purchased! :)
